Analysis of particle size distribution
The particle distribution study is an important measure to detect the volumetric efficiency of a vessel and to detect potential dead or re-cirulation zones.
It is possible to directly simulate the interaction between a specific fluid and a distribution of particles. Not only the size distribution, but also other parameters such as the contact elasticity is directly modelled and simulated.

The following figure shows the residence time of the particles, which is an important value since it helps to visualize potential recirculation zones.
Furthermore, the velocity of the exhaust gases have been investigated. The flow field and the corresponding velocities are shown in the following picture
