CFD simulations support the understanding of the complex physical processes involved significantly. This leads to improved products long-term.

The simulations performed here lead to higher efficiencies of the powertrain due to a new combustion chamber design. We analyse the flame-wall interaction in detail for an internal combustion engine used in a hybrid vehicle application. 

Further investigations with different fuels are planned for future projects and the validation will be performed for various operating conditions.
